In the on-going war against Fats, Oils, and Grease in sewer pump stations, there are several considerations. Prevention is a good first step with a strong Municipal FOG program. Once the FOG is in the system, that is where we go to work. There are two schools of thought. One is chemical, utilizing today’s effective floating degreasers which float on top of the surface. The second is a biological solution. Both approaches work.

Chemical
Green Float:
All-natural floating lift station degreaser.
This product is a powerful soy-based lift station degreaser, containing 95% soy and 5% d-limonene. It floats on top of the water surface, rising and falling with the level of the water. It effectively dissolves heavy grease and fat accumulations on walls and creates an odor barrier with a pleasant citrus scent. High soy content raises the flash point over traditional d-limonene-based products, for longer life.

Citra Solv:
Offers the cleaning, degreasing and deodorizing power of citrus d-limonene with other natural solvents. 25% d-limonene, 100% active non-emulsifying blend, to help remove grease deposits along walls and surface as the water rises and falls. Working quickly and effectively, reasonably priced, and fresh citrus scent make this one a great choice.

Biological
This would consist of the installation of 1 x 5-pound Grease Block in each station.
The blocks would last approximately 2 months. This would be augmented by Bio Bombs #2200. Both products are a unique blend of bacteria, enzymes, micro-organisms and micro-nutrients designed to control grease, organics and odor in lift stations. The Grease Blocks are a solid block form suspended in the lift station. The rising and fall of the water wears away the binding releasing micro-organisms.
The Bio Bombs are a powdered form of micro-nutrients in a water-soluble bag. When the bag contacts the water, it dissolves immediately, releasing the micro-nutrients. The effect is quick dose from the Bio Bombs augmenting the slow release from the Grease Blocks.
Once the grease level is abated, we should be able to gradually reduce the amount of Bio Bombs, while the Grease Blocks would be a constant.
